HOW IT ALL STARTED
I started Roar Coaching because I know what it feels like to be stuck in a cycle you can’t break.
From a young age I developed a compulsive overeating disorder that slowly started to take over my life. It affected everything from how I felt in my body and how I related to food to how I showed up in the world.
I genuinely believed the answer was more discipline and more control, so I went all in on every diet and every “transformation programme,”. I spent lots of time and money chasing something that didn't work for me. And instead of freedom, it just left me feeling like I’d always be stuck.
But that wasn’t the end of my story.
In 2018 I had an encounter with Jesus and chose to follow Him (that’s a story for another time). As I began to discover a different way of living, I started moving my body with a new purpose.
I started learning how to actually enjoy movement and build something sustainable. Around the same time, I trained as a personal trainer and became a certified pre- and postnatal coach, and I also worked with a mental health charity that trained me in trauma-informed care through life-changing online programs. It was those exact tools that helped me navigate my own difficult journey into motherhood as my husband and I experienced traumatic pregnancy losses. Having walked through that deepened my understanding of the importance of compassionate, trauma-informed support through pregnancy, postpartum and the many transitions that come with becoming a mum.
My coaching goes far beyond workouts and goal setting. It’s about helping you step out of shame, all-or-nothing thinking and survival mode so you can build a way of living that actually lasts.
I care deeply about creating a safe and supportive space for you as you navigate everything from unhealthy patterns with food and exercise, to pregnancy & postpartum recovery.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about finding freedom in your health in a sustainable way that works for you and your real day-to-day life. It’s my passion to help women understand the deeper patterns behind their habits and coach in a way that approach health and fitness with compassion instead of shame.

"Over the past year of my journey to better health, Helena has been a consistent source of support and encouragement. With Helena in my corner, I had the best cheerleader who not only challenged me to push towards my goals, but also helped build my confidence with increasing weights and strength training. When I first started at the gym, it was just a box-ticking exercise and I was in a constant battle with myself at the thought of going. But Helena’s approach to fitness was exactly what I needed. Now I love the gym and can’t imagine life without it."
